Simulating growth of porosity during solidification of Ni base superalloy
Dear Bernd, Recently, I am thinking about to simulation the growth of porosity during the solidification of Ni base superalloy. Can we take the porosity holes as a distinctive phase, compared with liquid and gamma phase? For Thermocalc, there are 'voids' , and I do not know if it is approporiate to ...

Re: Unable to run CMSX4 DRV file on MICRess 6.001 system
Dear Bernd,
Thanks for your kind instruction. I should have typed in positive values for the activation energy of diffusion.
Now the program works. The morphology evolution is slightly different from the example, which might be caused by the deviation of diffusivity values.
Best regards!
Yang

Unable to run CMSX4 DRV file on MICRess 6.001 system
Dear Bernd, Recently I am trying to run the CMSX-4 DRVing file. We already installed MICRess 6.001 and TCCS software. We bought TTNI8 database, but do not have the MOBNI1 database. So I type in the diffusional data manually and used linear TQ mode to read the thermodynamic data from TTNI8. Also, I e...

Re: grain boundary diffusion
Dear Bernd:
Thanks a lot!
I will carefully consider your advice!
BTW, could you please provide more information about the MICRess conference the next year?
Best wishes!

Re: grain boundary diffusion
Hi Bernd, I have another question concerning boundary diffusion. How do you set the prefactor of diffusion coeffcient? The physical width of interface δ= 0.5 nm or 1nm However, according to a handbook, the boundary diffusivity is Dδ= 5.4x10^-8 exp(-Q/RT) cm2/s Do I need to input the prefactor (5.4x1...

question of the stability and curvature induced undercooling
Dear Bernd: Hi, I want to simulate pearlite growth with MICRess, which is a lamellar structure. As you know, the thickness of cementite may be pretty small according to Experimental data. Thus the small size may yield large curvature undercooling, which may depart from the reality to 50K or more. On...

quention arised on interface mobility
Dear bernd: Hi! I want to ask you some question about setting the interface mobility. From the examples, it is clear that the interface mobility is a constant value. But in cases more complicated, we need to try if it is possible to set a variable mobility, i.e., the mobility can change with tempera...

Mismatch of phas.mcr and conc.mcr
Hi, Bernd! Recently, I am doing 3-D pearlite growth. Since the Carbon concentration is so different in ferrite, austenite and cementite, I can distinguish each phase in conc.mcr. However, I find a mismatch with the phas.mcr output for the same timestep output. It seems that the conc.mcr output is cl...

Re: grain boundary diffusion
Dear Bernd:
Thank you for your suggestion. I will deal with the simulation and if there is any further problem, I would post here. It is very kind of you~

Re: grain boundary diffusion
Dear Bernd, Thank you for your reply. I have read it and tried it in MICRess. There is no problem with the code now. However, I do not quite understand how to deal with my simulation. The following is what I find on the thread: # How shall diffusion of component 1 in phase 1 be solved? 1 1 multi gg ...
