Re: Microstructure from file

Hello Bernd, I would like to read the initial structure from file. However, since the initial structure I would like to read in is from the out put of another software( Monte Carlo ), I might have to construct the input file by myself. Could you give me any pointers as to what the data requirements ...

Re: Microstructure from file

Hello Bernd,

I think it's about Microstructure file. I tried using .phas file, but it failed.

Thanks,
Raina

Re: Microstructure from file

Hello Bernd,

Could you tell me the format of the input file that can be read by Micress?
I would like to make some modification and then use "from_file", but I don't know which type of file can be read by Mrcress.

Thanks,
Raina

Re: Microstructure from file

Thanks Bernd! Your last reply really answered my question. Since I'm not very familiar with "restart", I would like to ask more about this. As you said, when using "restart", all additional grain input will be ignored. However, I'm wondering if I set new phase interaction data, will that be ignored ...

Re: Microstructure from file

Hello Bernd, As you told me, I used ''restart reset_time" and "overwrite", later it asked me to type in Grain Input. If I continue typing in Grain Input as shown below, what is Micress going to use as initial structure? Read from .rest file or read from Grain Input I typed in? # # Grain input # ====...

Re: Microstructure from file

Hello Bernd, Thanks for your professional advice, but still It doesn't work. I don't think ''overwrite'' is a good choice, since it will ask me to type in Phase Data later, and I don't think I'm gonna use that as my initial structure. Therefore, I prefer using ''restart''. However, when I type...

Re: Microstructure from file

Hello Bernd, I really appreciate your quick response! I tried your second method again and still met some issues that I don't understand. 2.png As shown in above picture, I used .rest file and chose ''append'', but still the simulation end and said the data is compressed which I don't think I compre...

Re: Microstructure from file

Hello, Thanks for your reply for my previous question about how to use the output from one simulation as an input file of another simulation. However, when I implemented your methods, there still exist some issues I can't solve. You provide two solutions. First is save the last file as ASCII file an...

Re: Mobility for austenite grain growth

Hello, I'm using Micress ran two simulations. One is for ideal isotropic grain growth and another is for ideal grain growth with texture. For the second simulation, I set initial structure random distributed and the misorientation = 30. For modification for surface energy and mobility, I chose "fact...

Re: Microstructure from file

Hello, I'm using Micress doing the grain growth simulation. During the simulation, first I would like run the isotropic grain growth and then followed by anisotropic grain growth. I would like to use the ending structure of the isotropic growth as the initial structure of the following anisotropic g...
