Re: 3 postings disappeared

Dear Bernd,

I will do my very best to get them back and already contacted the SysAd for doing so.

Please apologize any inconvenience. Hope that this will not occur in the future any more...

Yours

George

3 postings disappeared

Dear Georg,

Probably in the course of shifting the forum to another server 3 postings (two from me, one from deep) disappeared! It was in the solidification board between June 25 and July 13! Is it possible to get them back?

If not we will survive...

Cheers

Bernd

Forum re-organized

We have re-configured the Forum and opened some new boards.
Several people from ACCESS agreed to act as moderators for individual boards

Forum launched

This Forum was launched on Feb 10 2005.

You should not yet expect too many entries at present,
as we did not strongly advertise neither the forum
nor the MICRESS homepage by now.

New publication on MICRESS phase-field model

Dear all, there is a new publication from us, which explains exaxtly the multiphase-field approach which is used in the MICRESS software. Here is the reference: PHYSICAL REVIEW E 73, 066122 (2006) "Multiphase-field approach for multicomponent alloys with extrapolation scheme for numerical applicatio...

Re: What is "double_obstacle" of potential ?

Thank you very much for your answers.

It impressed on me that the sine-profile is better than the hyperbolic-tangent profile for expressing the steady interface contour.

Re: What is "double_obstacle" of potential ?

double_well and double_obstacle denote the typ of potential which is assumed for the free energy description of the diffuse interface. Their is no short answer to the question above and there are many items about pros and cons of each potential in theory and numerical aplications ... Maybe the essen...

What is "double_obstacle" of potential ?

Hello! In the driving files of the example files of MICRESS, the "type of potential" is usually selected as "double_obstacle". I, however, look sometimes for the potential function to be defined as "double_well" in basic textbooks and/or articles dealing with the phase field model. Please explain th...

bug: lower time limit in automatic time stepping

There is a known bug in MICRESS 5-31 and earlier versions related to the use of the lower limit for automatic time stepping: If this limit is taking action, the prefactor for the segregation criterion (which is specified as second parameter in the same line) is not taken into account. This under cer...
