Re: New publication on MICRESS phase-field model

Dear Bernd, I have two questions from the '''Self-consistent homoenthalpic Approach'' paper. 1) I am looking forward to get an equation for the solid phase fraction (homoenthalpic approach) but i fail to understand from the equations how it is calculated in the Micress. Rather, i would say, speaking...

Re: Temperature distribution: 3D

Dear Bernd, Thanks for the answer. What paper(s) describe the micress model in general, best in terms of the following relations: 1) Relationship describing evolving solid fraction in terms of temperature 2) Temperature as part of the convective process describing the melt in the mould to be solidif...

Temperature distribution: 3D

Dear Bernd, In the phase field method, if i want to describe the temperature distribution in 3D, how should the equation look like? What i found closest was just in X-direction from the paper , Phase-field simulation of the columnar-to-equiaxed transition in alloy solidification Arnoldo Badillo, Chr...

Re: Grain Orientation

Dear Bernd, I don't have temp. - dependent data for the different parameters for different phases. So i use constant values that i got hold from books or web. In this scenario, what i want to understand with the data i have for Al Cu 4.5 wt%, 102 K temp. drop for temp. at the bottom 923 K which resu...

Re: Grain Orientation

Dear Bernd, In what case do i require the connecting points and the temperature gradient values in Z direction if i already run my simulation with regards to the above mentioned self - consistent homoenthalpic approach. I mean i am not understanding the difference between the homoenthalpic approach ...

Re: Grain Orientation

Dear Bernd, If I understand correctly, the 5 samples are from one casting experiment, where temperature has been measured at the 5 points using thermocouples, right? That's correct, there are thermocouples placed at the different distances of the chilled end of the ingot. Thanks for the very well ex...

Re: Grain Orientation

Dear Bernd, The data that we have is from an experimental cast of a Al 4.5% Cu alloy, the chemical composition is (4.5 Cu, 0.05 Si, 0.07 Fe, 0.24 Mn, 0.30 Mg, 0.017 Ti, balance Al, contents in wt. %). Although, for the simulation i only considered 4.5 Cu and neglected the traces of other elements. I...

Re: Grain Orientation

Hello Mr. Bernd, The results are better for orientation but unusual as the average size almost remains constant for the four cooling rates shown below. What could be the reason for it? This was not the case earlier. I also send you the .in file 1875.in in which the nucleation set is common for all o...

Re: Grain Orientation

Dear Mr. Bernd, I want to predict Grain orientation using the Neural Network for training with the data for varying cooling rates and then later also add other conditions that the grain orientations depend upon. How could i set the integers of randomization to vary for every simulation run? Best Reg...
