Re: Some questions about lat_heat

Hi, Bernd Thank you once again. For example, I simulate the dendrite growth of the solidification process of the titanium alloy prepared by VAR. I have used comsol finite element to simulate the temperature field change of the solidification process (have considered the influence of latent heat). Ca...

Re: Some questions about lat_heat

Dear Bernd, Thanks for your reply. I learned from the article you provided that for larger temperature gradients, I can use the Bridgman approximation (directly using the temperature gradient G and the cooling rate v, ignoring latent heat), and for small temperature gradients, I can use the DTA appr...

Some questions about lat_heat

Dear Bernd, Hi, there are some questions about lat_heat : 1、Why can't I control the cooling rate after choosing lat_heat without 1d_temp, but can only choose the heat flow? What equation is this based on? 2、If I couple TQ, do I not need to use 1d_temp? 3、If I choose no_lat_heat, do I completely igno...

Re: Shape of grain boundary

Hi,Bernd, According to our experiments, adding a small amount of Fe into ti-6al-4V can effectively refine the grain size. According to my previous simulation, with the increase of Fe content, the segregation of Fe at the grain boundary is to inhibit the mobility of the grain boundary and promote the...

Re: Shape of grain boundary

Hi Bernd,

I hope to grow new small grains at the edges and boundaries of large grains, which shows that grains are easier to nucleate and grow in the presence of a substrate than in pure liquid phase.

Re: Shape of grain boundary

Hi Bernd, I modified the substrate and reference phases according to your opinion. Now I can nucleate through the interface, but the interface nucleation is formed at the beginning of the calculation and cannot grow up. And I hope that the interface nucleation is generated during the calculation pro...

Re: Shape of grain boundary

Hi,Bernd Thank you for your explanation of undercooling. Now I use bulk with seed density to nucleate the grains as shown in the figure, and try to further nucleate at the position marked by the red line. I tried to add seed types (interface or triple), but other types of seeds could not be generate...

Re: Shape of grain boundary

Dear Bernd, Thanks for your reply。Now I want to measure the undercooling of the local boundary. I see the mueS file can provide a interface mobility which defines the interface velocity of the boundary, and the unit of the interface mobility is cm*4/Js。How can I convert this unit into a common unit o...

Re: Shape of grain boundary

Dear Bernd, Thanks for your reply。These are the results of the gradual decrease in Fe content. I want to know how micress software affects the boundary morphology based on component segregation. If the temperature gradient I set is a fixed value, can segregation produce local supercooling? If so, ca...

Shape of grain boundary

Dear Bernd, Thank you for your help. Now I am simulating the suspended smelting Ti-6Al-4V alloy. I found that when there are only three elements in the alloying elements, the grains are round, but when some Fe is added to the alloy, the grains gradually change from circular to polygonal, which is ve...
