Hi Bernd,
this error occurs for different writing locations.
In the screenshot it is a file on the C:\ drive and when I tried it on another machine, it is a file on a network drive.
In both cases the TabGD.txt is affected.
Best regards,
Moritz

Overflow-Error
Hello everyone! I am currently experimenting with very large values for seed densities. Naturally, this leads to very high numbers of grains during solidification. Unfortunately, this seems to cause problems, possibly with the hardware I am using. The early stages of the simulations look like this: ...

Re: Nucleation density and influence of shielding
Dear Bernd, I would like to add one follow up question to this whole topic of seeds. As you already described, seeds effect each other in regards to the formation of grains, because earlier acitivated seeds can lead to grain growth which "swallows" seeds that otherwise would have acted as nucleation...

Nucleation density and influence of shielding
Hello everyone, Question 1 - Seed density based on Experimental Values when setting up nucleation in MICRESS, the available seeds are an important input. Greatly influencing are also parameters like the shielding time or shielding distance. If seeds sizes and density are known based on experimental ...

Re: Typical values for minimal mobility
Hi Bernd, thanks for the fast reply. In your paper "Grain Growth Simulations Including Particle Pinning Using the Multiphase-field Concept" in figure 3, you show the interaction of a NbC particle with a grain boundary. It is something like this, when you think of a spatial resolved simulation? https...

Re: Typical values for minimal mobility
Hello Bernd, as always, thank your for your answer. I suspected something like that. As I am in the process of confirming more and more parameters for my simulation, this is really reassuring. I would like to ask a follow-up question regarding the mobility or more specific the Zener pinning. I only ...

Maximum nucleation temperature
Hello everyone, recently, I was a little bit confused about the correct setting of the maximum solidification temperature. I want to simulate an alloy which is made up of essentially iron and chromium. TiN (titanium nitrade) particles are used to refine the microstrucure. Titanium and nitrogen are n...

Re: Extracting nuleation positions
Hello Ralph, thank you so much for your reply, which is very helpful to me! I have one follow up question: In the logfile output, what is the correct interpretation of this line: Seed type: 1 (10: 4/4) Am I correct, when I assume it is: Seed type 1 (Seed type) 10 (class of seed of this type) 4/4 (fo...

Re: Influencing parameters for grain growth
Hi Bernd,
thanks for the advice!
We tried several values and are confident to move on with one of them.
Best regards,
Moritz

Extracting nuleation positions
Dear all, for a specific research topic, regarding different nucleation sites in a solidifing melt pool, I am very interested in the exact positions of nucleation and parameters of the nuclei. I there any possibility to extract a dataset after the simulation, which contains infomation about the posi...
