Re: System resources for calculations

Hi Moritz, MICRESS does not reduce its computational load to avoid overloading the system. However, CPU load is only a part of the story. Maybe your simulation is already memory bound (caching effects, high memory traffic) because relatively seen more work for e.g. list or nucleation operations (see...

Re: The license is not available

Dear Sai,

In your case, the license manager seem not to run. Just restart it.

Re: Example Reset

Examples from the MICRESS website are always related to the newest release which is 7.0. The syntax changed and MICpad 6.4 cannot parse it. That's the reason for your error message. Of course, you can always run it with MICRESS directly and will see what is wrong with the input. Download 6.4 example...

Re: Example Error

This is an error message coming from MICpad. The editor was not able to find the specifified output location in this case. If you use MICpad 7, you can check the syntax of your driving file from the (see main menu). Note, that MICpad 6 cannot parse syntax of MICRESS 7. You can always pass the drivin...

Re: Geometry of Grain

Online manual says: Round grains are defined by their radius, rectangular and elliptic grains by the length along the x and the z-axis. I am missing length along the axis in your input definition. I think you can apply Voronoi construction as usual. "I guess if you define the grains such small (belo...

Re: Example Error

This is a copy&paste bug left in this training file for version 6.4.
Just delete the 'smooth 30.0' option which does not make sense here and run it again.

Change the driving file parameters (input file).

Creating a GES5 file with Thermo-Calc is detailed here:

Hi PeGr,

Which version do you use?
Can you attach all input files to reproduce this?

Re: Creating A Simulation

Hi SteelOx, it is recommended to start with an example and modifying it. If you really want to start from scratch, maybe use the MICRESS executable instead of MICpad. Minimal driving file in MICpad to start a simulation, should be (MICpad 7.000): english Res/fromScratch overwrite new Version 6.4 is ...

Re: Problem with installation of MICRESS-7.003

Hi Krishnendu, you can just follow the instruction displayed by MICRESS: # Please specify a license file # or a machine where a license server is running (i.e. @<server_name>) Enter a license file or server interactively. Once, a license was checked out successfully, you do not have to repeat this. ...
