Re: The text conversion

Sorry. There are not really more details. * You have a PGM picture, the perl script (attached ) and a perl interpreter. * You run it like above and you will get the 2D ASCII file with the pixel values in it which can be read in by MICRESS as an initial microstructure. * the geometry (picture size) h...

Re: The text conversion

I hope that you installed a perl interpreter. These packages include an exe like perl.exe. A perl script can be executed the way below. Please forget the PGM_to_MICRESS.exe and take the script (it is a text file) from the MICRESS tools folder. I think there is also a link in the other post. perl.exe...

Re: The text conversion

Hi Jane, sorry. I thought I had modified all documentation where a PGM_to_MICRESS.exe is mentioned. Where did you read it? In fact the provided PGM_to_MICRESS is a Perl script not an executable. We will port this to Python in future. You need a to install a Perl interpreter to run it on Windows (e.g...

Re: Synthetic microstructures with Dream3D ?

You can use pseudo 2D microstructures, i.e. one voxel layer. It is recommended to set the Y dimension to one for later use in MICRESS. For further documentation of Dream.3D, you have to rely on their documentation. Filter help pages (accessed from inside Dream.3D: question mark) are useful. Best, Ra...

Re: restart

Nothing received in support, yet. Meanwhile I tested a little bit. The problem might be using binary VTK files. There seem to be a bug. Did you try VTK ascii? You can easily convert your file with DP_MICRESS. If you rerun your former simulation to the point you wish to continue with, you can take th...

Re: restart

I guess that was something copied while testing other data treatments. OK. This does not give a hint. I think it is a case worth to be debugged. Even if I cannot provide you with a fixed version of MICRESS, I might recommend a workaround. Which version of MICRESS do you use? Please send your complet...

Re: restart

Good question!

I am wondering why the following error message is given:
# # Error: no resizing and transfer of VTK data is done in 1-D

Are the geometries of your simulation and the read in microstructure the same?

Ralph

Re: restart

Hi Jane,

I recommend to export grain IDs ('korn') together with phase IDs ('phas').
You can add a field in the export dialog of DP_MICRESS by using the plus button next to the 'field' input field.

Re: "Force automatic start values, GZTRBO error" when simulating FCC_L12 composition set

As far as I know, there is no GES6 file format, yet.
I.e. when you save your system in version 6, it will be converted to version 5, automatically. Has that changed?
There might be features of version 6 which cannot be converted.

Ralph

Re: Overflow-Error

Hi Moritz,

I guess Bernd meant that reducing the number of grains by categorizing saves time and avoids this 'record overflow' in TabGD output because of less data.

A more capable computer (more main memory) allows you to simulate more grains. It will not solve this output problem.
