Re: Creation of GES5-File
That's the version coupled to the TQ library version S which will only work with GES files generated with TC Version S. Please give the TQ 8 coupled version of MICRESS ("MICRESS_TQ8_x64") a try. It is located also in the MICRESS/bin folder. # MICRESS binary # ============== # version number: 6.200 (...

Re: Creation of GES5-File
What says the MICRESS version you use give the parameter '-v' ?

Re: Creation of GES5-File
I just checked it again. And I can confirm that TC 4.1 created GES5 files are compatible to MICRESS coupled to TQ8. In fact, the MICRESS release GES5 file binary differs from the new one. It is generated with TC 3.1. Please check the following: * Is your TC 4.1 a 64 bit version ? MICRESS 6.2 is 64 b...

Re: which configuration works better for MICRESS
Intel or AMD: MICRESS is build with the Intel Fortran compiler (version 14). However, we do not enable platform specific optimizations. The performance difference might not be that big. The software does not make use of GPUs. The parallelization is CPU thread-level based on shared memory architectur...

Re: Grain Input in 3D simulatio
Sorry, I made a mistake in my first post above. I edited it once more.
Definitely, while converting back from point to cell data, the dimensions have to be raised by 1. The product of the dimensions always represents the number of nodes of the structured grid.

Re: Grain Input in 3D simulatio
I have tested the following workflow successfully: 1. Generate an initial grain structure with MIC 6.003 in MIC format 2. Converted it to VTK ascii point data with DP_MICRESS 7 3. Converted it manually by changing POINT_DATA to CELL_DATA and raising the dimensions by 1 4, Read in the grain structure...

Re: Grain Input in 3D simulatio
* edited * * edited* In DP_MICRESS 7, we decided to convert to point data because it is more comfortable to display with Paraview, i.e. using the contour filter. However, DP7 does no interpolation to get point data from MICRESS' cell data if you do not change the grid geometry. The cell data is just...

Re: construct a multiphase structure
I forgot to mention that this is a deterministic type of grain input. See examples 'stress' or 'temperature'. The kind of grain input and number of grains has also to be set in the grain input section.

Re: construct a multiphase structure
Dear Zhanna, first you have to define your simulation area in one of the fist sections headed 'geometry' of the driving file. In the section 'grain input', you define grains according your layered structure and assign phases to them. # E.g. for a 100 x 100 micrometre 2D simulation area: AnzX 100 Anz...

Re: 3D files
You are right. Using the MICRESS VTK output directly is a workaround to get a VTK file omitting DP_MICRESS 6.1.
However, DP 6.1 is not able to display or perform analysis on VTK files.
A capability, we introduce with DP 7.0.
