Re: paraequilibrium simulation
Hi Kamal, There are quite a lot of literature that explains the redistribution models NPLE and PE. I would like to quote a portion of one such literature here: Different types of growth kinetics can be distinguished, depending on the redistribution behavior of the substitutional elements: paraequili...

Re: Error in reading diffusivity from database
Hi Kamal, No problem, everyone starts with silly mistakes. The way you create GES file and everything looks fine. When I ran your driving file with the new micress version, it started fine, though the thermodynamics didn't go well, and I had trying hard errors. But, I'm not getting the same error as...

Re: Post Processing using Paraview
Hi Chamara,
In the Coloring option of Paraview, sometimes, by default, the 'Solid Color' option will be active. Change this to the field that you want to view (say 'conc1'). Then it should work.

Re: Batch processing MICRESS simulations
Hello Kamal, Welcome to Micress forum. Yes, this is possible. In windows, you can locate the binaries of micress in the 'Bin' folder of the installation directory. You can select what type of binary you need- parallel/serial and with or without TQ. Give the name of driving file as an argument while ...

Re: From liquid to solid and to liquid again
Hi Chamara,
The undercooling should always be a positive value, whether the simulation is heating or cooling.
As for the nucleation site, you may play with the 'reference phase' and 'substrate phase' in nucleation data to put the liquid nuclei where you want to.

Orientation for acicular ferrite
Hi. In the acicular ferrite example for Micress, there are two possible orientations taken by the acicular ferrite grains in one austenite grain, as shown in the attached image. Is there a way to restrict this possible orientation to one single value in one grain?

Re: Not getting any solidification
Dear Chamara, The negative value of driving force sounds good. But the 'trying hard' error comes after the output is generated at 0.01 sec. 'Trying hard' error can come due to multiple reasons. It could be due to bad numerical parameters or due to thermodynamic reasons. A good detailed investigation...

Re: Not getting any solidification
Hello Chamara, Based on your inputs above, here is a suggestion: Normally in Micress, when you change your elements (composition), your interfacial mobility will need a tune up. In your case, one possibility is that your interfacial mobility may not be good enough to develop the sufficient driving f...
