Ges5 file problem

Post by Junny » Tue Oct 18, 2016 12:39 pm

Hi,
I met a problem when I was trying to simulate pearlite to austenite transformation. The simulation stops and the following message shows up:
#reading GES5 workspace
#Warning: GES5 file format and TQ library 932/64 bit) may be incompatible!
#Index relations between TC and Micress
#The database contains the following components:
#Number of components in database is not identical to given number

press any key to exit

The used program is MICRESS_TQ9_64x
The GES5 file was exported by TCCS component of Thermo-Calc, version s.
The GES5 were first calculated by the sequence of : Go da - def_sys - rej ph - rest ph - get - app mob2 - def_sys.....get....go to GES-save-GES-workspace.

Does anyone know the reasons and solutions to the problem? I also tried to run one of the example driving files in the installation directory and the same error appeared.

Many thanks and kind regards,
Jun

Dear Junny,

Welcome to the MICRESS forum!

Most probably, the problem is due to the Thermo-Calc version which you use: You need at least Version 3.0 of Thermo-Calc for creating the .GES files. Unfortunately, there was a change in format in between the versions which is related to the mobility data.
Please try first to use the .GES5 files which come with the MICRESS installation. If my assumption is correct, they should work properly.

Best wishes
Bernd

Dear Bernd,

Many thanks for your kind response and suggestions.
I am not sure whether I understand you correctly but I made a quick test, using the example driving file located at: C:\micress directory\examples\AlCu_dri.txt. However, the same error message appears again.
In our institute, we have the Thermo-calc version 2016a. Should I try generating a same .GES5 file with this version?

With kind regards,
Junny

Dear Junny,

my idea has been that you use the .ges files which are located at examples\GES_Files_TC3_x64\. But if you have Thermo-Calc version 2016a this is also fine.

If the problem persists we have to think in other directions like licences etc.

Hi Junny,

please take also into account that MICRESS and the Thermo-Calc version, you generate the GES5 file with, have to have the same architecture, i.e. 32 bit or 64 bit version.

You got the following warning:
#Warning: GES5 file format and TQ library 932/64 bit) may be incompatible!

Even with the '9' typo in it, it indicates an incompatiblity.

Cheers,
Ralph
