The total energy function equation in micress

Post by dongxiao » Thu Jun 16, 2016 10:56 am

Hi, all:
Normally, in phase field mothod, we have a energy function f(c,eta), but when we use micress, there is no option to input our own energy function, so, if we want to define our own energy function, how to get there?
Best regards!

Dear dongxiao,

If you start with your own energy functional, you typically want to create your own phase-field model. This is nice, but you will have a lot of work to do before you will be able to start your first simulations.

With MICRESS, we provide an already existing phase-field model which is optimized for applications in the field of complex multi-phase multi-component systems. In such a software tool, it is not easily possible to change the free energy function without destroying all the functionalities and optimizations. Therefore, sorry to say, MICRESS does not provide this option...
