temperature dependent cooling rate

Post by ilovemicress » Wed Nov 16, 2011 8:59 am

Hi,

I try to simulate solidification with temperature dependent cooling rate.
MICRESS permits description like as temperature dependent mobility setting as follows?
1800 -10 (K/s)
1700 -20 (K/s)
...

Otherwise, I have to use restart?

Regards,
Taka :)

Hi Taka,

a temperature dependent cooling rate means to have a nonlinear temperature-time profile! You can define this non-linear function in the section "Boundary conditions" of the MICRESS input file either by using the option "linear", combined with a high number of "connecting points" which allows for tracking this temperature curve, or by using the option "linear-from_file": Then you specify the temperature-time curve in a similar way as with the connecting points, but in an extra file with three columns for time, temperature and gradient.

Dear Bernd,

I have understood the way to use a nonlinear temperature-time profile.
Thanks for your advice! :D

Taka
